How to Root ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser ZE500KL Z00ED



Couple months ago ASUS introduced their new Zenfone 2 generation including Zenfone 2 laser family. Powered with Qualcomm chipset, the root method is different with the intel chipset. Today ASUS Zenfone Blog will teach you how to root ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE500KL/Z00ED) version or 5" inch version. Thanks to Miau9202 (XDA member). DWYOR. Tested on Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE500KL firmware version WW_12.8.5.118. For Zenfone 2 Laser ZE550KL Root tutorial here.

How to Root ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser :

Method 1:
  1. Download and Install ADB Fastboot tool (Download)
    2. Run it (Require administrator privileges)
    Press Y/Yes to install ADB and Fastboot or N/No to skip
    Press Y/Yes to install ADB system-wide or N/No for current user only
    Press Y/Yes to install Drivers or N/No to skip
    Continue Driver installation
    finished!
  2. Enable USB Debugging via Settings>Developer Options (if no developer options go Settings>About>Build number tap 7x then developer options will show up in settings)
  3. Download mod_boot.img (Download|Mirror Download)
  4. Enter fastboot Mode (Power+Volume up)
  5. Connect Zenfone 2 Laser with PC/Laptop
  6. at mod_boot.img folder open CMD (Shift+Right Click>Open Command Here)
  7. Type this command at CMD:
    8. fastboot boot mod_boot.img
  8. Now your phone should automatically reboot with root installed and working!

Method 2 (Beta):

Automated" way: If your device already has USB Debug activated and you have the proper ADB driver installed, you can just use THIS SCRIPT. Just connect your switched on phone and it will do all the steps!

Here in this post, I will share how to root Asus Zefone 2 Laser ZE500KL/ZOOED Marshmallow with step by step full guide, so simply follow the below steps and learn how to root.  like the Facebook page so that you can stay updated


    Asus Zenfone 2 Laser Ze500kl/Zooed Marshmallow Root Requirements:


    • Your phone should be on marshmallow below WW_13.1010.1612 version for this root process
    • Custom Rom TWRP            | Download Here
    • Bootloader Unlocker Zip     | Download Here
    • SuperSu Zip                         | Download Here
    • ADB & Fastboot drivers      | Download Here
    • Asus Drivers                        | Download Here

    Here in this process, You are doing the following things:


    1. Installing the ADB & Fastboot Settings on your PC
    2. Installing Custom Recovery TWRP via fastboot
    3. Unlocking your phone with the help of Bootloader Unlocker Zip via TWRP
    4. Flashing supersu zip via TWRP custom recovery.

    Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ze500kl Marshmallow Root Process:


    1. First of all download all the above file and connect your Asus zenfone 2 laser ze500kl/zooed marshmallow to PC via USB Cable
    2. After connecting to PC via USB, Now send Bootloader Unlocker & superSU zip into your Phone
    3. Now Place ADB, Fastboot & TWRP files in a single folder & Install ADB, fastboot & USB drivers 
    4. After the ADB setup simply click on shift+right click mouse and select CMD
    5. in CMD now type adb reboot bootloader & press on enter.
    6. Now your phone will boot into fastboot mode & again type adb devices and check if it shows your phone ID or not. If it shows then you are good to go. if it didnt show then make sure you install your phone drivers properly.
    7. Now you need to boot custom recovery TWRP  into your phone. simply type fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2.0-Z00E-MM.img.img and hit enter. it will take 5 seconds and reboot into custom recovery TWRP automatically.
    8. Now you need to flash bootloader unlocker zip via TWRP. (flashing unlocker zip means you are unlocking your phones bootloader which means your warranty is gone)
    9. Now you need to flash Supersu.zip again via TWRP. simply select suspersu from TWRP, slide the slider to the right to flash it & you are done.
    10. After the installing of Supersu is finished simply clear the cache & reboot your phone.
    11. After reboot, you will see Supersu app installed on your phone. thats it. you have successfully rooted your phone Asus zenfone 2 laser ze500kl/zooed marshmallow

    My conclusion:

    • Make sure you boot TWRP, If you flash TWRP then you will brick your phone.
    • Make sure your phone model is below mentioned marshmallow version. if yes then this method will work if no then this method wont work.
    • Make sure you flash unlocker zip before flashing supersu, if you dont then you brick your phone.
    • If you want to unroot then simply flash your phone version stock ROM. thats it.
    • I suggest you to read each & every step carefully & understand it clearly before you root your device.

    Flashing Instructions:


    [SIZE="4"][B]To install this ROM you will need to have a latest custom Recovery such as TWRP installed.
    1. Copy the downloaded ROM to your phone.
    2. Boot into your recovery
    3. Back up your ROM
    4. Enter recovery
    5. Make a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik)
    6. Install the ROM
    7. Install GAPPS package
    8. Reboot - the first boot can take up to 5 minutes
