Update your app to take advantage of the larger aspect ratio on new Android flagship devices

To deliver more engaging viewing experiences to their users, many Android OEMs
are experimenting with new, super widescreen smartphones. Samsung has just
announced a new flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy S8, featuring a new
display format with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. At the Mobile World Congress
earlier this year, LG also launched their new flagship device, the LG G6, with an expanded screen aspect ratio of
18:9.

In order to take full advantage of the larger display formats on these devices,
you should consider increasing your apps maximum supported aspect ratio. To do
so, simply declare an android.max_aspect <meta-data> element in the apps <application> element:

<meta-data android_name="android.max_aspect"
 android_value="ratio_float"/>

Where ratio_float is the maximum aspect ratio your app can support, expressed as (longer dimension /
shorter dimension) in decimal form.

We recommend that you design your app to support aspect ratios of 2.1 or higher.
For this, you would add the following to the <application> element:

<meta-data android_name="android.max_aspect" android_value="2.1" />

Note: if you dont set a value, and android:resizeableActivity
is not true, then the maximum aspect ratio defaults to 1.86 (roughly 16:9) and
your app will not take advantage of the extra screen space.

As more super
widescreen Android devices, like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6, become
available, youll have more opportunities to display more content and create
more engaging experiences with your app.

Is Android 8 0 O public roll out nearing Google Pixel devices may get it first

It is obvious that Google will roll out its recently announced operating system Android 8.0 O (yet to get a name) one of these days but nobody knows the exact date. The only wild guess so far is that the OS could be released in the first half of August, and it has emerged that it could happen next week.

The search giant has already released Developer Preview 4 of Android 8.0 O ahead of the public roll out.

"This is the final preview before we launch the official Android O platform to consumers later this summer. Take this opportunity to wrap up your testing and publish your updates soon, to give users a smooth transition to Android O," said Google on Android Developers Blog.

Now, tech pundit David Ruddock has claimed in a tweet that the firmware update could come in a weeks time.

Id look for the official Google Pixel Android O update to land in about a week. Could be pushed, but thats the timeline for now AFAIK.

However, Google is yet to officially announce the release date of its latest OS.

When will your smartphone receive Android 8.0 O update?

It is almost certain that the Google Pixel and its bigger sibling Pixel XL will get the Android 8.0 O update first, as that the search giant has the tradition of seeding its new OS to its flagships before expanding to other devices and OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). The handsets that could be line to taste the firmware include the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C and Nexus Player.

OnePlus has confirmed that it would seed the latest firmware to its OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 5, and HMD Global too has announced that its new smartphones Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 would get the OS. However, it is not known when these devices will get the new firmware.

Other OEMs, including Samsung to Lenovo (Motorola), LG, Sony HTC, Sony, Blackberry, Lenovo (Motorola), Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, OPPO and others will surely make the new firmware available to their popular handsets, especially the flagships but they have chosen to keep mum.

How to Install MIUI 8 Global ROM on Xiaomi Devices

As we know, Xiaomi released the MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM for all supported devices. We already provide the download links for all devices, but many users don�t know how to flash MIUI 8 Global ROM on their device and looking for a flashing guide. That�s why we provide you the step by step guide to Install MIUI 8 Global ROM on Xiaomi Devices.

Note: Before you start the process

It may erase your phone data, so we advise you first to take a complete backup of your phone and then proceed.
Ensure that your phone has at least 50-60% charged to prevent the accidental shutdown in-between the process.
The bootloader of Mi 5/ Mi Max / Mi Note users should be unlocked.
USB Debugging should be enabled.

How to Install MIUI 8 Global Recovery ROM

1) First, make sure your device running on latest MIUI 7 Stable Version.

2) Download MIUI 8 ROM for you device from above and save it on your device.

3) Now launch �Updater� app on your device.

4) Now click on the three-dot menu (�� icon) at the top-right corner, and select the �choose update package�.

5) Done. Your device will reboot on the latest version.

How to Install MIUI 8 Global Fastboot ROM

1) First, Download Mi Flash Tool, extract it and install it on your PC.

2) Now download MIUI 8 Fastboot ROM for your device from above.

3) Now boot your device into Fastboot mode by pressing �Volume Down + Power� button.

4) Connect your device to PC via micro USB cable.

5) Now extract the Fastboot ROM and copy its path on the PC.

6) Now open MI Flash Tool and Paste the address bar of the ROM file folder path copied from above.

7) First, click on the �Refresh� button (It will automatically recognize your device) and then click on the �Flash� button to flash MIUI 8 Global beta ROM on Xiaomi Devices.

8) Wait for some time to complete the process.

9) Done. Your device will boot on the latest version.

Things you may Need (The ones marked with a * are not optional):
- Stock firmware ROM*
- PhoenixSuit Key*
- PhoenixUSBPro* (Even if people keep calling it PhoenixSuit, thats its name when you install it)
- Semi-bricked Tablet* (Stuck on Logo, Cant enter recovery, etc.)
- Windows XP x86 or Windows 7 x86 / x62 *
- Patience**

This is a READ FIRST and READ-WHILE-ON-IT tutorial, Make sure to READ IT FIRST and then you can read it while youre doing it. If you attempt to do it while youre reading it without reading it first youll be propense to make tedious mistakes.

Lets get on it.

Install PhoenixUSBPro and once its installed, open it.
Phoenix is just like livesuit but they have a bigger interface, youll see the task buttons on top:
Key file | Image | Debug View | Start | Help | Update | Exit | []reboot
below it shows your USB Hub status (internal and external)
and on the right side theres a box to hold your failed or succededly flashed devices.

DONT connect your tablet yet.

Press the key file button and navigate to where your Key file is and double click on it to select it.
Press the Image button and navigate to where your *.IMG Stock firmware rom file is and double click on it to select it.

Youll see a (X) red Icon on the right. Dont mind it yet.

DONT connect your tablet yet.

Press Start. The red Icon should have turned to GREEN. If it didnt, something went wrong, they key file or the *.IMG rom file are damaged, corrupted, downloaded wrong or they are invalid. Search for a working ROM or start again the tutorial.
(Most of the times it should do just fine).

after the Icon has turned green, we are ready to connect our device.
First connect your USB Cable to your computer and leave your tablet disconnected
Make sure your tablet is completely turned off.
Before connecting your tablet, press the Volume+ button (or search your devices FEL Button on google / Linux-sunxi) for the Q88Pro, and Q8H is Volume+, probably for others the same.
Ok, Hold the Volume+ button pressed down and connect your USB Cable to your Tablet (While holding the Volume+ button down).
Right after connecting your USB Cable into your tablet (without releasing the Volume+ Button) Start pressing your POWER button repeatedly, One time every second.
At the sixth time (for some devices you need to press it 10 times or more) it will pop in your USB Hub interface box a device. Wait a few and it will appear your connected tablet.
It will say: Your devices queued ID and the process percent.
Mostly starts fast til 7% and then it continues to 53% then it does the job.
Itll take about 2"5 mins so be patient I know you want your tablet restored.

After its done it will appear on the right box if it succeeded or failed and the time the flashing took.
now you can press Stop and disconnect your tablet.

In the FEL Mode, even if your tablets screen is deep black, it might be still turned on.
So firstly try to turn it on normally holding your power button for about 3 to 5 seconds, if nothing seems to happen you need to force-shutdown first, for it: hold your power button for about 10 to 15 seconds. After that your tablet should be powered down, proceed to turn your tablet on. VOILA!!, good work guys.!

1. open phoenixusbpro folder and open PhoenixUSBPro.exe

3. select key file from phoenixusbpro key folder [ only for 1st time farther when you use it will auto detect key file ]

4.now click to image button and select downloded firmware

5.now after select image click to start button

6.after select start you will see a green trick mark at and of left side
this mean all ok you are ready to flash your tablet

8.final stage you have to force tablet in flash mode by key combintions [its same as livesuit flashing stage ]
HOLD on vol + or - key then connect usb to tablet and quickly keep pressing power button few times 10-15-20 you will see flashing process started software will detect your tab usb
and wait for finished massage

All done now disconnect and power on your tablet

Android Security Update for January 2017 Released for Supported Devices

A nother month, another Android Security Update. Google has actively been taking steps to find and disclose security issues during their monthly Android Security Bulletins. The current situation in the world of Android security, at least from Google�s end, is a lot better than before such bulletins were released.

Right on time, the security patch for January 2017 is now live. All supported devices can look forward to receiving an OTA with the update that patches a lot of security holes. The complete security update marked for January 5th, 2017 contains patches for 10 vulnerabilities marked critical, 28 marked as high severity, and 12 marked as moderate severity in total.

Google notes that the most severe of the patched issues is a Critical vulnerability that could enable remote code execution on an affected device. This remote execution could be initiated through multiple methods such as email, web browsing, and MMS when processing media files. The good news is that Google has received no reports of active exploitation or abuse of these reported issues in the wild.

How to Downgrade from Marshmallow to Lollipop for Nexus Devices

Marshmallow 6.0 is interesting and for all those users who have already updated Marshmallow 6.0 Android OS in their devices may just want to know on how they can roll back to the official Lollipop 5.1 Android OS. or you have updated your nexus device and now wants to back in lollipop due to following reasons we will help you to back in lollipop.

If for some reasons you hate Marshmallow or it is creating following problems in your nexus you should downgrade your android version with trick mensioned below

WIFI Mac Issue : In the latest Beta 3 release of Marshmallow 6.0, WIFI MAC address changes upon after every reboot.

Battery Drain and Heating Issue : Battery in Nexus 9 drains no less than water. For us in Marshmallow the device started heating which led to faster battery drain than in normal condition.

Force Close Issue : Even though it was a clean install, apps like twitter and Google Play Services are giving force close issues.

Pre Requisites before Downgrading from Marshmallow :

Note : Make sure that you take a backup of all the data in your device as updating the device firmware will wipe your phone completely. With the help of below apps/ tips you can backup data present in your device.

SMS � SMS Backup & Restore
Call Log � Call Log Backup and Restore
Photos, Music and Videos � Take manual backup in your computer,
App Data � App history can be found in Google Play Store but the downloaded data in your apps will be lost and will have to be downloaded.

Keep in mind that battery left in your device should be a more than 50%. Make sure that ADB is properly configured in your computer. Without this it�s not possible to perform this downgrade.

Let�s proceed to the next step we have mentioned steps to downgrade the OS in your device.

Guide to Downgrade to Lollipop 5.1 from Marshmallow 6.0:

Download Lollipop 5.1 OS from the below mentioned link for your appropriate device.

Nexus 5
Nexus 6
Nexus 9 WiFi
Nexus 9 LTE

Once downloaded, extract the folder on Desktop.

Open the folder to extract the zip file as shown in the screen capture below.

Now, in your Windows computer press Shift + Right Click to select the �open Command Prompt here� as shown in the below screen grab.

Once done, turn Off your Nexus device so that it can be entered in the bootloader mode. Press Volume Down + Power Button in your Nexus device to enter the same.

Connect your device to computer with original USB cable and execute the below commands one after other to downgrade the device to Lollipop OS.

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash system system.img

Please note that post executing all the above commands, it will take around 3 -4 minutes for rebooting the device and show the language preference. It may even take longer time sometimes.
Now you are in Lollipop.

How to Fix Error like NT code MCC MNC XXXXXX SUBSET XX on rebooting LG Devices

Hey guys, today we are here with a trick for a small problem that was faced by any unknown person who visited our website to downgrade his/her LG G4 back to lollipop 5.1.1. We are thankful to him for sharing his problem with us and for him and other LG G4 users we are here to fix an error after downgrading the phone. The unknown user told us that he is finding an error on rebootin his phone and the error was "Current version is not available for user. Cant find matched cust for NT-Code MCC/MNC[FFFFFF],SUBSET[56]".

So guys if you are having any this type of error like above on rebooting then don�t be feared about that as all these errors comes because the firmware are made different for different countries and you are probably using an international firmware. It�s a simple trick to correct the error and I know that error annoyed you a lot but from now you are going to be free from this error.

Note :- According to your firmware you could see any error of the type above but the error is same if it appers like "Current version is not available for user. Cant find matched cust for NT-code MCC/MNC[XXXXXX],SUBSET[XX]",i.e., there could be anything instead of �X�.

Let�s begin the trick :)

Requirements :

* Root Access in your LG device.
* ES File Explorer App

Steps to fix the error :

* Open ES File Explorer app.
* Go to the �root� folder of your device.
* Search and go to the "Cust" folder.
* Open the "cust_path_mapping.cfg" file with �ES Text Editor�.
* At the top(or bottom), give a space to add a new line.
* Type the following : XXXXXX,XX=/cust/OPEN_IL. ( Replace the characters of your own like for the unknown user the characters are �FFFFFF,56=/cust/OPEN_IL�).
* Now, save the file.

Note :- You may be asked to enable Read-Write capabilities, so allow the ES File Explorer to do so.
* Now reboot your phone and get rid of that annoying error.

Remember :- As I told you firmware is different for different countries, so in case if your are using a European device, and the above edited character does not work, then just replace "OPEN_IL" with "OPEN_EU" and for US devices replace with �OPEN_US� and so on. One mor thing I want to tell LG users that LG G3 users can also use same process to fix this error.
